This post has been cross-posted from the main Global Personals blog, but we thought it was worth highlighting it again here for the worthy cause.

Some companies raise money for charities through sponsoring employees to do long bike rides, or run a marathon... lots of active things. At Global Personals, we're spending November growing hair on our upper lips.

Movember started life (as many crazy ideas do) down under in Australia in 1999. Since then, it's spread to become a worldwide annual event–a month-long celebration of the moustache–with tens of thousands of participants each year, raising millions of pounds. The Movember slogan is "changing the face of men's health," with all proceeds going to a variety of men's health related charities (specifically prostate cancer); in the UK, those charities are The Prostate Cancer Charity and Everyman.

Last year, we raised a whopping £947.90, so for 2010 we're aiming to break the £1,000 barrier. Of course, to achieve that, we need your help.

We need as many people as we can to sponsor our team. Anything you can spare will be gratefully received by these incredibly worthwhile charities. We'll make sure we're posting growth updates throughout the month so you can see that we're not shirking our responsibilities as mo-cultivators.

"Together, we can change the face of men's health."
